    • You really just need your name! The order will be pre-packed and have your name (first and last) on the box.

  • Do I have to pay online, can I pay cash or e-transfer?

    • It is easiest for us if you pre-pay for your orders. That can mean, paying online through the website or sending an e-transfer to terratonicsfarm@gmail.com (no password needed). If you are a cash person it is best to pick up from us off the farm, or at the market. Thanks!

Mushroom grow kits

  • What comes in my grow kit

    • In the kit you get your fully colonised 5 lb bag of oyster mushroom substrate (fruiting bag) you get a misting bottle to help keep you mushrooms hydrated and you get written instructions.

  • How do I know when to harvest my mushroom?

    • Your mushrooms are ready to harvest when the cluster of caps and gills has opened up. Here is a great example:

Ready to harvest!

  • What do I do if I don’t see any pinning?

    • If it has been over a week and you do not see any pins forming on your bag. Grab yourself a large plastic bag, think garbage bag. And place the whole thing over your fruiting kit. KEEP WATERING. The garbage bag acts as a humidity dome and will help keep your fruiting kit hydrated to help start the pinning.

This tiny looking cauliflour head, if the first sign of pinning on your fruiting kit.

  • How do I harvest my mushroom?

    • Harvest is easy! Simply grab our cluster at the base as close to the kit as your can, and twist. The cluster of mushrooms should easily come off.

Are you an organic farm?

We are not a certified organic farm. But we do practice many similar growing standard to the organic certification. We grow soil first, we feed the bacteria and microbial networks in our soil through composted manure and seaweed extracts. We do not use any synthetic herbicides or pesticides. To top it all off, many of the seeds we purchase are organic.
